North Hills School District – Club Slow Pitch Softball

Fall 2014 Season

General Information:

1.     Girls Slow Pitch Softball is offered as a Club Sport by the North Hills School District

2.     Eligibility – Girls entering grades 7-12 at either the North Hills Junior or Senior High in the fall of 2014 as well as home school students who reside in Ross and West View


Information to know for the 2014 Season:

Conditioning and Practices:

·         July 28 – August 10                    Conditioning – Specifics of conditioning to TBA later

·         August 11 – August 17               Practices – Individual practices prior to team selection

·         August 18 – August 26               Practices – For teams prior to the start of school

Practice times and locations:

Practices will be held at Scharmyn Park, McIntyre Field, or Herb Field, weather permitting, from 6 to 8 pm on weekdays and Sunday 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, prior to the start of school. There may be additional practices at various times on Saturday or Sunday.

Registration Dates:

·         Sunday, July 27 – Scharmyn Park – 5:30-6:30 pm

·         Sunday, August 3 – Herb Field – 4:30-5:30 pm

·         Saturday, August 9 – Scharmyn Park – 5:30-6:30pm


* Important – Please note that all players must be registered and submit their physical to the Club PRIOR (New this season) to participating in practices, which starts August 11, 2014. No exceptions.


Physicalsthe physical must be performed after June 1, 2014 and Sections 1-6 of the form “PIAA COMPREHENSIVE INITIAL PRE-PARTICIPATION PHYSICAL EVALUATION” must be completed, signed by parents, student-athletes, and physicians at the appropriate locations. The form for physicals is available at the Senior High Athletic Office or here. This physical will be good for all school sports your child wants to participate in during the 2014-15 school year.


Additional Information:

1.  Season – Games are typically played each weekend and will begin on Labor Day weekend for the Varsity and begin the following weekend for Junior Varsity and Junior High. The season typically runs through the end of October for all levels of competition. Each player that completes the season with her team will receive a “Varsity, Junior Varsity, or Junior High Letter” from the school district.

2.     Players are evaluated to determine which team they will initially play on to start the season. By school rules, only 9th-12th grades are eligible for Varsity, only 9th-11th graders are eligible for Junior Varsity, and only 7th-9th graders are eligible for Junior High.
